Accelerate the development of prospective multicenter childhood cancer clinical trials in India to achieve our mission.

Pediatric cancers and blood disorders affect children from infancy to adolescence, with leukaemia, lymphomas, thalassaemia, haemophilia, aplastic anaemia and sickle cell disease being among the most common in India. Each year over 75,000 children are diagnosed, yet survival remains 30–50% due to unequal access to clinical research, trials and standardised evidenced-based treatment protocol. INPHOG uniting pediatric cancer and hematology centres nationwide to conduct collaborative research and develop evidence-based treatment protocols. Our mission is to ensure every child, no matter where they are born, gets an equal chance to live.

2005

First indian multicenter childhood cancer study published

Study Title : Treatment of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Limited-Resource Settings (India, 20-Year Study).

Journal : Published in the European Journal of Cancer.

2008

InPOG Creation

Establishment of InPOG

The Indian Pediatric Oncology Group (InPOG) was established as a national collaborative network to increase survival for children with cancer in India. The focus was on promoting multi-centre clinical research, developing standardized treatment protocols, and strengthening collaboration across institutions.

2015

1st InPOG Executive Formed

Launched first two InPOG studies.

  • Formation of the first InPOG Executive Committee (Dr. Sameer Bakhshi, 2015-2017) to provide leadership and strategic direction to the organisation.
  • Launch of the first two InPOG studies.
2018

2nd InPOG Executive Formed

Formation of the second INPHOG Executive Committee (Dr. Shripad Banavali, 2018-2021) to provide leadership and strategic direction to the organisation.

2021

InPOG is now INPHOG

Establishment of InPOG

To enable the research wing to grow it was decided to have InPOG as a separate entity as a section 8 company. Further benign hematological disorders were added to its remit and the name was changed to Indian Pediatric Hematology Oncology Group (INPHOG). INPHOG Research Foundation was incorporated as a Section 8 company on 22nd Dec 2021.

PHO Chapter of India and INPHOG continue to work together in their goals of making a positive impact on the lives of children with cancer and blood disorders in India. Joint meetings are held between PHO executive board and INPHOG board. PHO Chapter, the parent body of all pediatric hematologists and oncologists in India endeavours to provide full support to INPHOG to further research in this niche specialty in the country.

2024

1st Inphog CRC Registration

  • Obtained CSR registration, strengthening credibility and enabling collaborations with corporate partners.
  • Enrolled 20,000 patients, expanding access to research and standardized treatment across centres.
2025

1st Annual Report Published

  • Strengthened network to 59 member institutions, enhancing collaborative efforts across centres.
  • Enrolled 26,088 patients, demonstrating scale and impact in advancing pediatric oncology research and care.
  • Research conducted through 25 disease-specific and transdisciplinary subcommittees, enabling focused and collaborative study efforts.
  • Launched the first INPHOG Annual Report, showcasing organisational progress and impact.
